Trash the Dress
A final snippet of my "trash the dress" photos from a couple of weeks ago. See more {HERE} & {HERE}. Cassie & Kelsey did a fabulous job. It was hard to pick just a few to share. Although the name of the shoot suggests it, my dress is not really "trashed" -- nothing a little oxi-clean can't solve. I'm not going to preserve my dress in the traditional sense. I'd like to recycle it somehow -- some pillows, or frame some lace, or make some jewelry with the beads?
Do any of you all have any ideas of how to make a keepsake out of my dress? Anyone else planning on "trashing the dress?"
My wedding dress was very, very similar to yours. I had mine preserved and it's sitting in a box at my Mom's, but I've also been considering dyeing it black to wear to a future formal occasion. It's such a beautiful and classic design. I have been meaning to dye my shoes a more practical color, too.

Oh yes I am! Has everyone told you that you look like Eva Green? Gorgeous! You're husband is so lucky!
ReplyDeleteStunning photos! I love the topmost photo the most. Why, yes, Eva Green...I thought you looked like "some actress" by couldn't remember who. Thanks for pointing that out!
ReplyDeleteThe photos are stunning!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of special jewelry from the beads, pearls, crystals!

incredibly stunning!! but did you actually trash it :(??
ReplyDeleteMy dress is preserved the typical way...but I love your idea of upcycling it soooo much more. Can't wait to see what you do. Maybe I'll unpack mine.....
ReplyDeleteYou are so beautiful, Blair! I think recycling the material is a fabulous idea. That way, you'd be reminded of your wedding and your sweet hubby all the time! Perhaps you can put part of it in a quilt... or you can make cute flower/ribbon hair accessories!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. The pictures are amazing. YOU are so beautiful!!! I love that water picture of you! Wow! LOVE LOVE LOVE! <333
ReplyDeleteAnother set of great pictures, especially love the ones with the water :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!!
I know a woman who makes quilts from wedding dresses and the grooms tie etc. from the wedding. I've seen a few and they are quite lovely. I like the idea of it being on the bed to warm you. I am waiting to make sure my daughter doesn't want to wear mine, after that - probably one of those quilts. I am so in love with your photos.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS pics! I've heard of people who make their baby's baptism gown out of their wedding dress...I think that is an adorable idea :) I also love the quilt idea (jeanette). I'm not going to worry about saving my [future] dress for my daughters, cause who knows if I will have them, and if they will be the same size as me! I would have to lose about 3 inches and 15 pounds to fit into my mom's dress (NOT gonna happen haha).
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE this! SOOO MUCH! I was going to ask how long you have been married but I saw in your post. :) I really want to do a trash the dress session. But I'm a little afraid to, since my dress was expensive. Well, for me it was expensive. But maybe a few more years into our marriage I might do it. LOVE the pictures. Your hair is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo, so totally amazing!! That first one is beyond words. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to you!
LOVE the baptism and quilt ideas!
ReplyDeletei've also heard of someone lining their first baby crib...
You have the prettiest eyes, Blair! I think you have convinced me to do my own "trash the dress" shoot. I never preserved my gown - it's just hanging in the closest in a garment bag!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I think that you should incorporate the lace somehow into your master bedroom--so romantic especially since it's lace! You're beautiful!
ReplyDeletei borrowed my wedding dress, but your trash the dress shoot makes me wish i had bought a cheap one to do that with!
ReplyDeletethese pictures are AMAZING!
